Hendre is a 4 acre, non-working smallholding nestling below the highest point in the Preseli Hills, in the very heart of West Wales. It is the ideal location for exploring all of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park with its beautiful, unspoilt, sandy beaches, rocky coves and rugged cliffs, hidden valleys and quiet solitude on the Preseli Hills.
Hendre is in the tiny hamlet of Llandilo, about 2 miles away from the village of Maenclochog where there are two village shops, post office and petrol station. The small coastal town of Newport is about 30 minutes drive away and has a general store as well as a good variety of restaurants and pubs. Narberth, a similar distance away, offers a wider variety of shops.
Set on the side of a small valley up a quiet country lane, Hendre offers bed & breakfast accommodation in the main house, a self-catering cottage sleeping 4-6 people and the opportunity for wild camping.
Hendre has a large garden with lawns and fruit trees where our chickens wander happily. The self-catering cottage has its own private and secluded garden. On the other side of the lane there are two grassy fields complete with several standing stones, a large pond and a small oak wood. A pretty stream rushes down from the mountains and beyond that there is more mixed woodland. House guests and guests staying in the self-catering cottage are welcome to walk in the fields and picnic by the stream but the woodland beyond is reserved for our guests who are wild camping. Wild camping offers people a quieter, secluded camping experience, a chance for relaxation and reflection and the opportunity to ground and connect with nature.
For those wishing to sample wild camping, Hendre offers the unique opportunity to book a comfortable room in the house and, for a small extra fee, secure a secluded camping space thus enabling them to sleep out under the stars by the camp fire if the weather is fine or to snuggle down in a cosy bed if it is wet and windy outside.
Whether you want an action packed week of adventure or a quiet, relaxing break, Hendre provides a beautiful and peaceful place to stay in the idyllic Pembrokeshire countryside.
